What theme can be in Homage to my Hips by Lucille Clifton and Hips don't Lie by Shakira?

It's about saying this is me and I like me! In recent years people, especially young people, have been subjected to a lot pressure regarding their bodies. Fifty years ago people were just people, whether they were large, thin, small or whatever. Today we are constantly bombarded by propaganda that says the perfect bodies are on TV, which is rubbish. Walk down any high street and see what the real world looks like! So the theme in this poem is about self assertion and confidence and shaking off what the fashionistas would have us do - we are what we are, and it's good - this woman is proud of her hips and knows that they spin men like tops, which they do!
