Why are me and my dad so much alike?

my parents got divorced when I was two. My dad was seeing another woman and also hid and lied about a lot of things. He's been living in NC most of my life, I still love the man and he's still a great father. I see him and my stepmom twice a month and she's really nice. I'm alot like my dad in many ways such as laid-back, humerous, and nonjudgemental. I don't want to be too much like him bc he cheated on my mom and I wouldn't want to do that to my gf. My friend told me I'm like my father because of the genetics and I carry some of his traits.
