Do you have to do Wedding speeches?

Let's be honest, majority of the guests at weddings do not enjoy listening to speeches, they just want to eat, drink and have fun! I dont think anyone will think it's tacky if you skip it, they may even appreciate it! However, if it bugs you, then just stand up for literally 10 seconds just to thank your guests for coming, then move on. Save the mushy mumble jumbo bs, it's all cliche, heard it all before and probably no one really cares.
